I'm Marita, a recipe creator and entrepreneur in Cow Town, Texas (no cows were harmed in the making of this blog). I create recipes that are mostly plant-based, vegan, and gluten-free and enjoy tailoring recipes to accommodate food sensitivities, allergies, and selective diets.
I share recipes and food wisdom. My recipes are mainly plant-based and usually gluten-free. The focus is wholesome home-cooked food with love and care. I lean towards sustainable foods and products, and enjoy being conscious about what I prepare and consume.
. . . and that's what it's all about! I find my time in the kitchen to be calming, joyous, happy, and inspirational. Sharing peace, kindness, loving thoughts, and good food are my mo-jo. Developing new recipes and working with foods that nourish the body and taste amazing is my passion.
In 2015, I kicked off my change to Plant-Based eating by completing the holistic healing program from the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego, California, and received my certification. The program includes training in making Raw Foods. The program is based on Mind, Body, and Spirit. Quiet and focus your Mind. Cleanse and nourish your Body. Renew and awaken your Spirit. Long before that I was raised by a natural-healing focused mother. I also raised 3 children who have gone through varying stages of food journeys as vegan, vegetarian, fruititarian, and flexatarian. One year at Thanksgiving, I made 3 full meals, Vegan, Vegetarian, and Meat-Eater. That is 3 different versions of gravy, potatoes, stuffing, and more! I have been eating Plant-Based for six years now. For me, the most important thing I can do is focus on feeding my body nutritious food and eliminating those things that don't serve my health.
